John Oliver “Ollie” Tetloff was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 18, 2006, and rarely gave his parents a moment’s rest. He loved running, jumping, chasing and throwing balls, and playing with his toys. When they could get him to settle down, it was to snuggle with his mommy and watch cartoons or play video games with his daddy. Ollie loved giving gifts more than receiving them, and always looked out for his friends. His greatest joy was helping people and he consistently sought out opportunities to make this world a better place. Always inquisitive and curious, Ollie sought out answers to millions of questions, developed a love for science and acquired one of the largest children’s anatomy libraries.
On May 6, 2013, John Oliver became a warrior in the battle against neuroblastoma. He fought bravely and tenaciously for more than a year, enduring nine rounds of chemotherapy, resection surgery, three 10-day treatments of radiation, a 40-day stem-cell transplant, metaiodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) therapy, and countless transfusions, shots, and medications. We can only hope to face life’s adversities with a portion of Ollie’s courage and his gratitude for life’s pleasures. It is our greatest wish that Ollie’s story be remembered and his legacy honored as we join together to find a cure for neuroblastoma.
