Johnna Matthews is the Director of Field Education for the Social Work Program at the University of Montevallo. Ms. Matthews received her undergraduate degree in Social Work and her MSW with a concentration in mental health from the University of Alabama in 1998 and 2000 respectively.
Ms. Matthews’ primary practice areas are mental health, military social work, geropsychiatry, child welfare, and social work administration. She has over twenty years of professional social work experience. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of Alabama, and also holds her Private Independent Practice certification in clinical social work and social work administration.
Ms. Matthews served as an adjunct professor for UM from 2013 to 2019, and came on board as the Director of Field Education in 2019. She currently teaches Social Work Practice Skills and Pre-practicum, and Social Work Seminar.
