Theatre BFA Degree Plan – Acting Concentration
Acting, Voice and Movement
You will learn Stanislavski-based acting and text analysis, but also additional eclectic approaches to help you become a versatile, confident performer. Voice class utilize Linklater technique and IPA work to reduce regional dialects. Movement training emphasizes the Laban system, but also incorporates physical conditioning, stage combat and Viewpoints training. Students also work with Alexander technique principles across the performance curriculum.
You will have opportunities to pursue advanced stage combat techniques including rapier and dagger with an SAFD-trained instructor, as well as period styles in Chekhov and Shakespeare and training in acting for the camera.
