CASCE EXNS Mission Statement
The mission of the strength and conditioning concentration is to prepare students with foundation knowledge and practical experience to successfully thrive as a strength and conditioning coach in the high school, college, professional, and the private sector.
This program will provide students a thorough understanding of the physiological mechanisms underlying athletic performance and enhancement. Additionally, students will be taught how to design programs to improve speed, agility, conditioning, mobility, and weightlifting techniques to improve performance and prevent injuries.
Goals and Objectives:
- Provide students opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities throughout a well-designed, dynamic, and hands-on curriculum
- Collaborate with campus and community partners to provide applied, service-learning and scholarly activities
- Promote and support student and faculty professional development and leadership opportunities
- Students who complete this degree concentration will be prepared to pass the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) examination.
Faculty Commitment to Excellence
Faculty will model professional behaviors that reflect commitment to service to the institution, profession, and community.
- 100% of core faculty will participate in data collection, assessment, and evaluation of SCEP program outcomes.
- 100% of core faculty will maintain membership in the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
- 100% of core faculty who are CSCS’s will maintain certification.
