Montevallo Honors Organization
The Montevallo Honors Organization (MHO) is the student-led, SGA approved arm of the Honors Program. The MHO coordinates social and service events each year at the discretion of its officers. Past social events have included Halloween and other holiday parties, trivia contests, and game nights. Members have participated in service events including the Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome Alabama, UM Campus Clean-Up, and the GRC Night for Shelby County Gifted Resource students.
Omicron Delta Kappa
Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), the National Leadership Honor Society, places emphasis upon the development of the whole person and recognizes achievement in scholarship, athletics, service, media, and the arts. The University of Montevallo chapter of ODK is housed in the Honors Program, but membership is open to students university-wide. To qualify for membership, applicants must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors in the top 35% of their academic class. Additionally, members must demonstrate leadership experience on campus or in their communities. In conjunction with the Honors Program, ODK hosts professional development and leadership events each year.
Annually, the President of ODK is awarded the Distinguished Alumni Scholarship. Nationally, ODK also awards scholarships and fellowships to members seeking to continue their education through graduate and professional study.
