Founders’ Day Information

We’re celebrating 126 years of acknowledging our past while celebrating our future on Founders’ Day.

The ongoing efforts of our faculty, staff and alumni are ensuring the University continues its mission of providing students with an affordable, high-quality education, designed for intellectual and personal growth in the pursuit of meaningful employment and responsible, informed citizenship.

Since its humble beginnings, the University of Montevallo has continued to evolve to better educate its students for the many established and developing professions in the United States and abroad. In recent years, Montevallo has added new academic programs such as hospitality and tourism, cybersecurity and data analytics to highlight just a few. In athletics, wrestling has hired its first coach in program history and will be the newest addition of UM’s 22 intercollegiate teams next fall. Cycling has also been announced as a new competitive program on campus.

To better accommodate the University’s growth, the state-of-the-art Center for the Arts has opened to bring together many academic disciplines previously spread out across multiple buildings on the UM campus, and to serve as a prime resource for the Montevallo community and Shelby County.

Other recent building modernizations are Allison and Michael Stephens Hall, the new home for the Michael E. Stephens College of Business; the Sims House renovation, which will house the Grainger Community Counseling and Wellness Clinic, formerly known as the Community Counseling Clinic; and the renovation of the historic Old Gym facility into a strength and conditioning center for student-athletes and exercise science majors.

Today, we ask that you help us continue to progress by making a gift to the Founders’ Day fund, which will go toward the area of greatest need, or the fund of your choice. Complete the form below to make a gift to support the University of Montevallo.
